IELTS Exam preparation course:This course combines language development with examination techniques, study skills and examination practice. This course introduces all aspects of the examination and provides strategies for dealing with each of the IELTS exam papers.
Academic English & Business: It focuses on building skills in general English, as well as the use of English for academic and business purposes. The course follows an integrated skills programme and covers reading, writing, listening and speaking. There is a strong focus on grammar, developing new vocabulary and pronunciation.
General English: The course is designed to meet the needs of learners in a variety of situations and aims to bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world.
You will revise and acquire new vocabulary and develop an awareness of grammatical and phonological aspects of English.
English for Academic Purpose/ Pre-sessional Courses:The Pre-sessional courses are designed to help you develop the academic skills you need to progress to a university foundation, undergraduate or postgraduate programme. If you have applied for a course at The University of Manchester but have not yet fully met the English language requirement for your academic course you may be eligible to study a Pre-sessional course in order to meet those requirements.
Pre-sessional courses last for between 3 and 20 weeks and focus on improving your academic English. All our courses cover areas such as academic writing, note-taking and presentation skills. The length of course you will be required to take will be determined by the academic School to which you have applied, with advice from the ULC.
